Week 1
● The person/organization you are working with (if applicable), the Capstone Project you are working on
I am working with Essie and Divine and we are basically making an apparel and jewelry brand by using old clothes and decorating with paint and screen prints and creating jewelry.
● Why did you choose this particular project?
I wanted to work with creativity and I wanted to build on my clothing design experience and learn how to promote and sell my own products.
● Introductions - what was your inspiration, who are the people you’re working with, etc.
My inspiration for this project was having time and structure to create designs that I found interesting as well as create custom designs community members wanted. I want to try new techniques with clothing design like painting and ironing on photos.
● How did you pull together this particular project?
With help from my advisor we created a plan to be on campus two days of the week so I could get more structured work done as well as communicating with my team members to get working on our designs.
● 3 goals for your senior project (set these with your mentor)
Sell at least one piece of clothing with a design to someone outside of my family
Work with new techniques and see what works best
Figure out how to manage my time and self schedule
● 1-2 images/photos
Great post Thea! Love the artwork and photos, and all of the info re: your plan. -Chris
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your block prints, great job!
ReplyDeleteNice! I would love to hear a story of how you found a particular item of clothing and how you decided to decorate it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I had a lot of old clothes in my house that I wanted to use for this project. One clothing decoration was on a pair of light blue jeans. I decided to paint a face and a little sun with yellow ink because I thought the yellow sun and face would work really well and match the look I was going for.
DeleteReally cool idea, Thea! Glad you can utilize your creativity in this space and figure out new ways of adding graphics to a garment.
